About the CEC

The Experimental Choir of Canada is an initiative of François Lukawecki.

François is a Montreal composer, choir conductor and music teacher. François has won several awards recently, including the Stephen Chatman Student Award from Choral Canada in choral composition. He was a winner of the Université de Sherbrooke composition competition in 2023, and his school choirs have won several awards at the CBC Music Class Challenge. He was selected to participate in Roseline Blain’s master class with the National Youth Choir of Canada during PODIUM 2024.

François has been teaching in public schools in Ontario and Québec for the last 26 years.

He directs the Monday Night Choir, an a cappella choir that focuses particularly on modern music.

In 2023, he decided to return to school, and he is currently pursuing a master’s degree in choral conducting at the University of Sherbrooke.
